It was that or keep walking the streets naked.

[ He pauses, then frowns at Kai. ]

Which I'm guessing is the option you took?

( Kai gives a snort of laughter, then nods his head to the end of the bed where a lump of clothes sit. ) No, I had just already stripped down for sleep.

Unfortunately I was unable to grab any nightclothes on my way to a bed.

Yeah, join the club.

[ god, he's going to have to get nightclothes. He's going to have to wear clothes in bed because he's sharing a bedroom. How do people live this way? ]

So what horribly revealing kinkwear did they give you? I'm glamouring mine in the morning, I can't be seen in those. Even if the rest of the town can.

[4thprince]

( he shrugs. ) I didn't pay it much kind. Pants and a top to get me through the crowd. Neither covered much but they got the job done.

[guylining]

Yeah. Better than nothing.

[ A pause. ]

So what's your take on the whole monster sex cult thing?

[4thprince]

Kind of hard to have a take. ( he sits with his back against the wall now. ) I'm quite irritated about being kidnapped for the second time in less than half a season. I don't particularly like being forced into an environment such as this.

I don't really think there's a positive take on this for those like us.

[guylining]

[ Those like us. Nate looks sharply up at him. He hasn't really been thinking in such unifying terms. ]

I don't love it myself.

This is your second time, what was the first? A world like this?

[4thprince]

( he shakes his head. ) It was in my own world. I awoke from being kidnapped only days ago.

[guylining]

Oh.

Well, that's...terrible timing.

[ Nate chews his lip. ]

You were surprised, that a witch might be afraid of a demon.

[4thprince]

( ah, back on that. ) Witches work with devils. Entities. Whatever you want to call them.

And a lot are descended from demon blood.

[guylining]

[ Nate nods.

Although, he might have to put a pin in that. ]

So then was it witches, who hurt you? Kidnapped you, I mean.

[4thprince]

( this does take Kai by surprise. ) No. What did I say that would imply that? Humans and expositors kidnapped me.

[guylining]

Nothing, I guess.

[ he's sitting up too, now. The sheet has pooled in his lap, and he sits cross-legged. ]

It's just...I can't imagine humans capturing a demon. A witch could do it, no problem. [ Well. There'd be problems, certainly, but the point is that the spells exist, and by now Nate is extremely familiar with them. ] But a human? Most of them wouldn't even know how to find someone like you.

[4thprince]

( Kai watches Nate, then bursts out laughing. )

The eyes aren't a dead giveaway?

I think you're too caught up in the demons of your world. They don't sound anything like my people.

[guylining]

[ Nate smiles, and then shakes his head. ]

Trust me, no one would look at your eyes and think "demon". At least not right away. There'd be contact lenses, cosplayer, weird goth kid, and plain old not even noticing, all ahead of that. Humans are incredible at not noticing what's in front of them.

[ He shrugs, and leans back against the wall. ]

You're probably right, though. I'm working with what I know.

( Kai shakes his head ) Not in my world. In my world the eyes would tell everyone everything. We don't have... any of those things that you mentioned.

[guylining]

[ Nate lifts his head, thoughtful. ]

Is your world like this one, I mean...technology-wise?

[4thprince]

( he takes a moment, thinking about all he's seen, then nods. ) Technology-wise, yes. But that's really where the similarities end. Well except for maybe heavily mortal populated.

[guylining]

Mine is...technology is a lot more. To me, this place looks like something from a period drama. Like, my world was like this maybe a century or two ago.

[ he chews his lip. ]

How is yours different?

[4thprince]

To start, I don't know what you mean by period drama? ( it's not that he doesn't know what drama means, but the context doesn't fit. )

But I don't know really. It would take awhile to describe everything. We have witches and expositors. Then there's the Immortal Blessed. I don't know really how to describe our architecture... it various from people to people really. But this more flowery I suppose? More minute details and brighter colors.

Okay, so like what is an expositor? You said that before.

[ Nate's never heard of that. He's never heard of the immortal blessed either, but he's wondering if these are different names did things that he would know about. ]

[4thprince]

You know witch and demon but not expositor? ( we'll be guesses he didn't know about them the first two years of his life either. ) Another kind of magic worker that primarily uses the dead to fuel their magic.

[guylining]

[ yeah, okay. Magic in this guy's world works very differently. ]

Well we wouldn't make that distinction, if you're doing magic you're a witch.

But we don't use the dead like that, that's... [ It would be forbidden, he imagines, like resurrection is forbidden. ] What do you even mean, how do they do it?

All magic users are the same in your world that they'd all be witches? ( it sounds a bit redundant. then again, he has theorized that expositors are a different kind of Witch that developed differently. but there's no true evidence of that.

but moving on. ) I suppose death is a bit simplistic to describe it. They use pain and suffering and death can provide the biggest and easiest well of power to do so. The more skilled expositors can do more with less, but they're few and far between.

But they use the energy released from death to fuel their magic. They have a wide range of magic, but that's the essentials of it.

[guylining]

Right. [ Nate's tone sounds dry. ] So they don't use the dead, they kill people.

[ It doesn't really matter to him what else they're able to do. They're murderers, and they're doing it to increase their magical power. That's horrific. ]

Sound like lovely people. We don't do that.

I guess witch is a general term. I'm a blood born witch, from a witching family. There's hedge witches too, who aren't from families, but they're generally speaking not as powerful and can't always access true magic like we do. Then there's other creatures, like incubi, genies, demons. They have their own brand of magic, and they're all their own thing.
